The Inkster Police Department consists of a Detective Bureau, Patrol Division, and Records Bureau.The Detective Bureau handles all serious crime and oversees the Narcotic Unit, Homicide Unit, Property Control, and the Forfeiture Cases. The Patrol Division is responsible for being the first responders to service calls and writing initial police reports and gathering information. The Records Bureau disseminates and manages records for the police department. The Speciality Division includes the auxiliary police force, which consists of 40 civilian volunteers who provide supplemental services.
